I photographed this executive headshots session for Sharps Furniture after their AGM at The Belfry, creating a set of clean, consistent portraits for senior team use across digital platforms and internal communications.
The brief was clear: create executive headshots that felt polished and professional, but still relaxed and approachable. The portraits needed to work well in a square crop, sit comfortably against a plain backdrop, and feel consistent across the wider leadership team.
A simple setup designed for strong, usable portraits
For headshots like these, the goal is not to overcomplicate the setup. It is to create portraits that look professional, flattering and easy to use across different platforms.
For this session, I used a mix of natural daylight and a mobile studio lighting setup to keep the look clean and even, while still making the subjects feel comfortable in front of the camera. That helped create a polished result without the portraits feeling stiff or over-lit.

Executive headshots that feel approachable, not overly formal
One of the key things businesses often want from leadership portraits is the balance between confidence and approachability. These images need to look credible, but they also need to feel human.
That was especially important here. The portraits needed to feel relaxed enough for modern web and LinkedIn use, while still looking consistent and professional across the full set.

Why on-location headshots work well after a business event
Because this session took place after the AGM, efficiency mattered. That is often one of the biggest advantages of combining headshots with an existing company event or leadership gathering. Everyone is already in one place, dressed appropriately, and ready for a more polished set of portraits.
For businesses, it is a practical way to refresh leadership imagery without arranging separate studio appointments for every individual.

Makeup support for a more polished finish
For this shoot, makeup support was provided by Birmingham-based makeup specialist Rachael Claire, helping the final images feel polished, camera-ready and consistent across the team. Her work is centred around natural-looking makeup and she describes her style as soft, natural glam, which suited this brief well.
That kind of support can make a real difference for executive and leadership portraits, especially when the goal is to create images that feel refined without looking heavy or overworked.

A consistent set for websites, LinkedIn and internal use
A strong executive headshot session is not just about taking one nice portrait of each person. It is about creating a full set that feels consistent in tone, crop, background and finish, so the images work together across the business.
That consistency matters on leadership pages, internal presentations, LinkedIn profiles, press use and wider marketing materials. It helps the brand look organised, professional and well presented.

Light retouching, natural finish
The final portraits were lightly retouched, with subtle skin softening and finishing work to keep the images polished while still looking natural. That is usually the sweet spot for executive headshots, enough refinement to feel premium, without losing realism.
The result was a set of modern business portraits that felt clean, confident and easy to use.
